New Toy – Weber Go Anywhere

This week I was lucky enough to spot a bargain on a new toy…  the Weber Go Anywhere

Weber GA

These units are portable and quick to get started.  I’d had my eye on one previously as I think they would be great for mid-week grilling and roasting as it will be much faster to get to temp and easy to shut down and conserve fuel.  When I saw a virtually unused one going for half price on gumtree I was on to it!

To break it in I thought I’d cook up a little lamb leg roast we had in the fridge from the super market with some sweet potato.

I started up some heatbeads in the chimney then set up the GA for indirect cooking.  The sweet potato went in the middle to catch all the tasty lamb juices.

I didn’t bother with temperature gauges for this one as it’s not rocket science.  Roasted the lamb for just over half an hour then rested for 15 minutes while I finished off the sweet potato and some asparagus.

Already extremely happy with my impulse buy as the whole process was almost as quick and easy as throwing it in the oven but with that great BBQ flavour instead.

Stay tuned as there’ll be more experiments on the new toy soon!

    Where did you get it?

Thats amazing what a great meal you got out of that little portable Weber. I had one that was similar but ran on a propane bottle. I had to give the bbq away because of my anti propane/gas beliefs.

Nice Gus. How long did that lil’ Weber take to heat up?

    • Nick, I used a chimney starter to get the heat beads going which took around 15 minutes, then put the beads in the Weber and I think had the meat in about 10-15 minutes after that

Depending what fuel source you’re using I reckon you could go from lighting to cooking in under 20 mins. Next time I’ll time it a bit better!

Nice blog! Is your theme custom made or did you download it from somewhere? A theme like yours with a few simple tweeks would really make my blog stand out. Please let me know where you got your design. Bless you dgccfcakecdk
