Welcome to the Gusface Grillah recipes section – more method, less rambling.
Bacon Breakfast Burgers:
Ingredients (serves 4):
- 600g minced bacon*
- 1tbsp vegemite
- 1 cup aioli
- 4 slices gruyere cheese
- 4 buns of your choice
- 1 avocado, mashed
- 1 tbsp oil
*I had a large slab of bacon to mince but you can substitute bacon slices if need be.
First combine the vegemite and aioli. I find it easiest to first combine about one quarter of the aioli with the vegemite until smooth then adding the remaining aioli.
Separate the mince in to four equal parts and form in to patties, preferably using a burger press as they require quite a lot of pressure to hold together.
Heat a pan and the oil over a medium high heat and turn your oven to 180 degrees celsius. Cook the patties until well coloured (think crispy bacon colour) then add the gruyere and place in the oven.
While the cheese is melting prepare your buns with vegemite aioli on the bottom and a quarter of the mashed avocado on the top.
Assemble your burger, serve immediately.
